Pair of Bald Eagles in Lebanon

Yesterday afternoon I found a pair of Bald Eagles along Route 4 in Lebanon, NH near Lake Mascoma.  I was returning home from a great 5+ mile snowshoe loop hike to Smith Pond from Route 4A in Enfield with three friends. I first saw one eagle, but when I stopped my car and got out I noticed a second, perhaps 40 yards from the first.  Both were backlit and in a complex of branches, but one takes what one can get and be thankful for it.  Here is Eagle #1.

After a while this eagle flew to join its mate.  I hiked a bit into the field, happy to get away from the traffic, and got this photo.  Eagle #1 is on the left.

Eventually Eagle #1 left, leaving just Eagle #2 to photograph.  Here are two of the photos I took.

Two weeks late I found what must be the same pair in the same location.  You can see the photos from that encounter if you CLICK HERE.

Perhaps one of these eagles is the same as the one I photographed near Lake Mascoma a few years ago. That one made it to a calendar.

Three days earlier I found a Barred Owl about 5 mile away along Trescott Road in Hanover.

This owl was only a short distance from where I found a Great Gray Owl in Hanover almost 7 years ago.
