Paradise Park, Part 2

What is that bird above? This angle does not show it well, so you might have some difficulty identifying this warbler that was the star of the show, after the phoebes flying of course, on my visit to Lake Runnemede in Windsor, Vermont last Thursday. (If you haven’t seen the previous blog, please do.)

There were many sparrows in the fields, but few were as approachable as this Savannah Sparrow.

I spent almost all my time at the northwest arm of the lake because that is where the most interesting phoebes were. Just before I crossed the dyke I got some photos of Blue-winged Teal.

Across the dyke in the woods were some Ruby and Golden-crowned Kinglets. Here are two photos of the ones with the bright golden stripe on their crowns.

But the stars in this neck of Paradise Park were the warblers I started this blog with.

Now you have it — Palm Warbler.

I got some nice photos of Palm Warblers in Hanover three years ago in the area where “Feathered Fridays” will be held by Mascoma Audubon during May.

Upcoming blogs will cover Wood Ducks in the Pompy area of Norwich, a beautiful hike in SW NH, the Ledyard Outing Club Wells River Ramble, and perhaps a coyote in Etna. Only one of these will be posted on bird list-serves, so subscribe to this blog if you want to get an email when the others are posted.
