Experimental Balloons at Post Mills

I went to see the balloons last Saturday evening, but I found Brian Boland’s museum equally fascinating and almost as colorful. The balloon festival returned to Post Mills Airport in Thetford, VT for the first time in 14 years. The museum houses balloons; human, horse, and gasoline powered vehicles; airplanes; artifacts; and many other treasures.

Below you will find separate slide shows on the museum and the balloons.

I need to get back sometime, hopefully soon, to do the museum justice and perhaps take a balloon ride. I flew out of this private airport in two different 1940s planes on skis this past winter, so I know what a wild and wonderful place it is. Pick up a copy of the November 2014 issue of Upper Valley Life magazine if you want to see those photos. Or better yet subscribe, and it will be delivered to you so you don’t have to remember in November.

Update: You can see photos from the 2015 Experimental Balloon Event and read the story and see photos from Brian’s flight when he surpassed 10,000 hour aloft by clicking these links.
