Peregrine Falcon

In spite of the rain, it has been a great fall foliage season, especially in far northern NH. I spent Thursday and Friday there photographing with a friend on the advice of another photographer friend. The colors up there were the best I’ve seen in years. I’m very behind on editing my photos—been spending almost all my time photographing—but I wanted to post this one from yesterday.

I was exploring River Road in Dorchester when I spotted a white blob in a tree above the “pond” on the South Branch of the Baker River. Through my camera’s lens I could make out that it was a raptor. I took a few shots, walked 20-30 feet closer, and repeated this a number of times. Finally it flew. Even with a long lens, I had to crop this final photo of the beautiful  adult peregrine falcon  quite a bit.
