Cross-country skiing with friends in Willoughby State Park Dec 31 and at Kingdom Trails Jan 1 was a wonderful way to welcome in the new year of 2011. Weather was unusually warm—sunny the first ski and foggy the second. But the snow held up very well. The first image below shows the last afternoon sun of the year striking the cliffs of Pisgah which earlier welcomed ice climbers. The second image is from Willoughby State Park and the third from the Kingdom Trails in East Burke.
