Orchard Oriole

Orchard Orioles have returned to the Foley Park area in Norwich for the second straight year. So far a nest site has not been located–at least not by humans. Hopefully they will nest again this year. Here are a few photos from mid-day yesterday.

Dueling Redstarts

Milton Frye in Norwich yesterday produced a brightly colored Cardinal, just after the rain stopped. I had hoped for warblers but not yet apparently. Then on to Foley Park to look for the Orchard Oriole Kent found the day before. I thought I spotted a male, but it turned out to be a pesky Redstart. Got a few quick shots of the female Orchard Oriole but was quickly distracted by dueling American Redstarts. One seemed to live on each side of the tracks and took exception if the other strayed across. They were a joy to watch, which I did for quite a while.  Arrived home in Etna to have a Great Crested Flycatcher scream at me. Captured some photos of this beautiful bird. Here are four individual images and a slide show of the Redstarts, such colorful small birds.
