UVLT Workshop Photos

It is hard to go anywhere without taking photos.  So I did so today (5/8/10) in the murky dark at 6:45 am as I drove to the workshop in the rain. I also took a few photos outside the UVLT offices before and immediately after the workshop.  Here six of the photos I took.

The first three are “scenes” in Etna as I drove to the workshop. You might spot a Canada Goose in one.

The next one was taken just outside the front door before anyone arrived.

Then during the workshop I shot a photo of the ceiling to demonstrate “blinkies”. I took this photo, enhanced it, mirrored it twice (very easy to do), and placed it above another image. I then selected and masked out the bright white lights so the other image showed though. The other image was shot just outside the door before the workshop started. It is an abstract image because I zoomed my lens during the exposure. Finally I expanded the “canvass” using a color from the “ceiling” to frame the creation. The whole process took about 5 minutes.

Finally, as I was getting into my car I had a nice, though brief, chat with Pete Helm who was had just finished supervising some Tuck student volunteers in the removal of some invasive plants. I made a few photos of Pete holding an invasive garlic mustard plant, but since he might not like them I have chosen instead to finish this brief “show” with a photo of just the garlic mustard plant.

I hope you take the time to explore some of the other images on this site. Check our “Nepal in Panorama” or whatever suits your fancy. And check back, the site is only a few months old and I am only just beginning to populate it with images–and insert photos tips from time to time in my blog.
