Appledore Island

Appledore Island is for the birds—especially in migration season. It’s in Maine but reached mostly from Portsmouth, NH. This is a spot that can be absolutely fabulous for birds, or a bust. When the birds are scarce you can’t easily drive somewhere else to find them. But when the birds put on a show it can be fantastic.

It also has great scenes, the ocean, and poison ivy that won’t quit—vines, bushes, and trees.

Here are some photos from this very interesting spot.
