Summertime

The slide show in this post is an abbreviated version of the 8-minute self-running show I brought to the August meeting of the Quechee Area Camera club. The photos were taken between July 11 and August 10, 2012. The theme is Classic Summertime.

A peaceful place just above Lake Kezar in Sutton New Hampshire, Muster Field Farm is a wonderful spot for photography, picnics, or just enjoying nature. Spread around the fields of flowers and vegetables are old buildings—barns large and small and even a schoolhouse—moved from elsewhere and well preserved.

My alarm was set for 3 AM Sunday morning, but it didn’t go off. I woke “naturally” at 2:45 and by 7:15 had made a round trip to Logan airport. I was a bit early to join five other members of the rapidly growing Quechee Area Camera Club, but that provided an opportunity to do a bit of focused photography.

It was a beautifully overcast morning, perfect for flower photography. I had “documented” the area well in previous visits with family and on my own photographing this farm museum for the great local Keasarge magazine. So this was a morning for play. I tried motion blurs, multiple exposures, enhanced and shallow depth of field, and quite a few straight shots of flowers and details. Days later I played a bit more with some of the photos using Photoshop.

Here is a collection of images from a very enjoyable morning at Muster Field. Many are straight shots, but there are also derivations and creations in this collection.
