Not exactly a recent event, but I wanted to share these images. About a year ago I was photographing migrating birds near a small backwater of Lake Mascoma that I call Ice House Pond. Some commotion in the pond across the rail trail from the lake caught my attention. I watched and photographed a pair of huge snapping turtles mating. It did not seem to be a gentle or graceful process.
